Iran's Cinema Verite deadline postponed

Based on the request of the filmmakers, the deadline for submitting productions to the 11th edition of the Cinema Verite in Iran has been postponed.

According the festival’s secretariat, the new submission deadline has been set to October 7, 2017, for films participating in the national section.

More than 4,000 filmmakers from 100 countries have submitted their documentaries to take part at the 11th Cinema Verite, Iran’s International Documentary Film Festival.

Previously, the secretariat of the event announced that the event has so far received 4,102 documentaries.

This edition of the Cinema Verite is to screen documentaries selected from important events in the world, including the international film festivals of Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, Amsterdam (IDFA), Hot Docs in Canadian, Karlovy Vary in Czech as well as Visions Du Reel in Switzerland.

Moreover, the other sections of the event include ‘Special Screening’, ‘New Vision’ and ‘Our Era’ (political documentaries).

The event will be held by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) which is the largest center for production, distribution and promotion of documentary, animated and experimental pictures in the Middle East.

The 11th Cinema Verite is aimed at protection of the nation's identity, promoting creative documentary, reinforcing the link between documentary cinema and social facts and events, introducing new global developments in documentary cinema, providing financial support for documentarians by distributing and screening their works in other festivals and removing hurdles to film production.

The 11th Cinema Verite is slated for December 10-17 in Tehran.
